The Cultural Learning Alliance is responding to the current cuts in education and cultural sector budgets with a massive call out for those working in the sector to become signatories.

The Cultural Learning Alliance has already achieved significant support and is aiming to reach a target  of 5,000 signatories.

What is the Cultural Learning Alliance?

The Cultural Learning Alliance is an independent body building on the recommendation from the consultation report Get It: The Power of Cultural Learning, 2009. It is led by key cultural agencies from across the sector.

The Cultural Learning Alliance is for everyone who believes that children and young people should have an entitlement to quality cultural experiences. By signing up you are becoming part of the Alliance, showing your support and helping to build a vibrant, coherent voice for cultural learning and participation.

The CLA are inviting anyone who thinks cultural experiences – of museums, music, dance, literature, visual arts, theatre, new media, arts, film, libraries, heritage – are important for children and young people, to sign up to the Alliance. The Alliance provides Heads, teachers, cultural and youth professionals with the most up-to-date research, news and best practice, as well as building a vibrant, coherent and informed voice for cultural learning and participation.

Lord Puttnam, Chair of the Alliance says: “The Alliance is an opportunity to work together towards ensuring that all children and young people have their full entitlement to quality cultural learning. Our immediate challenge is to collectively increase awareness of the value of cultural learning for children while policy and funding decisions are being made over the autumn.”
