The Young Designer Awards

The Young Designer Awards are designed to raise awareness of multi-cultural cutting edge designers, and are open to young people aged 9-25 years who have a passion for fashion, who have an ability to do intensive research and have a natural enthusiasm for the subject.

This year winner’s will win the opportunity to have their work sold in high end designer boutiques in the UK. The International Designer Award will be on hold until we have a group of winners with collections that are suitable to show on the world stage at New York and Paris Fashion Week.

Entrants will be expected to source materials and produce their designs themselves; they must produce drawings of their design, a story/mood board and a personal profile with the help of magazine cuttings and photographs, etc, as well as the materials. Each entrant will research and produce a 4-page project on a designer of their choice from the past or present day.

Judges will look for the candidates who show the most creativity, originality and interpretation of their idea. Designs will be displayed in a fashion runway showcase in the autumn of 2010 at a prestigious London venue where they will be judged and awards given.

Designers must research ‘British Theatre, Musicals or Dance’ some examples in the list below:
The 39 Steps, Billy Elliot the Musical, Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Mamma Mia!, Sister Act, Monty Python’s Spamalot, Blood Brother’s, Swan Lake, The Blue Man Group, We will Rock you, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, Wicked, The Jersey Boys, The Lion King, Oliver, West Side Story, Grease the musical, Hairspray, Thriller Live, Phantom of the Opera, Stomp, Chicago, Cats, Le Misérables to name a few.

This project supports some of the brightest emerging fashion stars and gives them an opportunity to be seen by countless individuals you will be there future consumers. Entrants must all be long term residents in the UK.
