Project 1
I am currently working on a creative partnership project with High School.
This project is working to help the school with their SEAL skills, and involves me working with a group of 24 mixed ability, mixed age children on re-designing their hall, and creating a series of artistic interventions into the space. This encourages them to see the schools spaces in a new light, with many possibilities. This project is running over 9 sessions
Project 2
I worked at Longton High School over 4 sessions. The school wanted me to work to the theme of identity. I worked with a class of year 9s on designing and creating fabric patches to reflect their identity. The idea was that the various patches would then be combined to form a class identity. Some patches were created with mixed media, and some were designed on photoshop (which I taught the class to use) and then pressed onto fabric.

Samantha is a pleasure to work with. Always open to new ideas and patient to listen to everyone who wants to engage with our art activities. There are always comments from the public as to how approachable and helpful our freelancers are and they make the workshop activities something that that families want to return to again and again. Samantha is a great team worker with all our artists and with the public. She uses her own ideas to get the best out of others in a gentle and encouraging manor.

Longton High School
During the Radi8 Scheme 2009, Sam prepared for and delivered a well-planned project aimed at a small group of Y10 Applied students. This project slotted into Unit 1 of the Applied framework and built upon previous work on an Identity project, also delivered by a practising artist.
A well-delivered presentation of her own work, workshops which focused on increasing the skill sets of the students, including a PhotoShop lesson, and supported curriculum time, led the students to create effective and personal art work to fulfil the needs of the course. A written brief, including time-scale, provision of sketchbooks and resources, and homework sheets also gave the students much welcomed additional support.
Sam documented the process and outcomes in preparation for her end of Scheme exhibition, using the material as evidence of her close involvement and success as a creative practitioner.
Students and staff alike responded well to Sam’s personal approach and professional methods of delivery and as she knows, she would be welcome back at any time, to continue shaping and developing the minds and skills of the Art students at our School!
